Widdicombe Farm Touring Park
Widdicombe Park is an adult-only campsite near Torquay that earns consistent praise for its sparkling cleanliness and warm, helpful staff. The site features spacious, level pitches, many offering lovely views across fields and countryside. Modern shower and toilet blocks are kept in spotless condition, with plentiful hot water and excellent water pressure. On-site dining includes Poppies restaurant—known for generous portions and Sunday roasts—along with Gordon’s bar, which serves reasonably priced drinks and free nightly entertainment. Visiting food vans, such as pizza, fish and chips, and breakfast bap services, add variety when the restaurant is closed. A handy minibus service runs to Torquay and Paignton for a small fee, though its schedule can vary. The site provides a dedicated enclosed dog exercise area, and the surrounding area offers pleasant walks. Guests appreciate the peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, even though the site lies close to the A380 road and some traffic noise can be heard day and night. WiFi is a paid service that many describe as poor value, with intermittent connectivity. Waste disposal is limited to glass recycling, and the laundry dryers sometimes stop mid-cycle, requiring extra payment. Pitches offer good size and decent privacy, though the open layout can feel exposed in places, and a few pitches are on sloping ground. The site is not ideal for those seeking immediate beach access, and the entry ANPR camera can be overly sensitive. Bar and restaurant hours may be restricted during off-peak season, so checking current schedules is wise. Despite these small drawbacks, the overwhelming majority of reviews enthusiastically recommend Widdicombe Park, citing its clean environment, excellent staff, and overall value as reasons to return again and again.
