Nestled in a beautiful natural valley in the heart of Devon, this campsite offers a lively yet peaceful rural setting that appeals to families and older visitors alike. The staff are consistently praised for being exceptionally friendly, helpful, and professional, guiding guests to pitches and providing a warm welcome. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with spotless, modern, and well-maintained toilet and shower blocks that are regularly serviced even in heavy rain. The site boasts both a heated indoor swimming pool and a supervised outdoor pool, though the indoor pool comes at an extra cost with limited one-hour slots. On-site dining includes a bar and restaurant serving generous portions of good food, plus a takeaway service, although some guests find the quality inconsistent and prices high. A well-stocked shop offers essentials and treats like cream teas at reasonable prices. Families will appreciate the multiple children's play areas, evening entertainment, a games room, a kids' club, and a soft play area, but popular activities can book up quickly. Dog owners are well catered for with a large dedicated dog field, a dog shower, and surrounding woodland walks. Pitches are generally spacious with both hard-standing and grass options, though many are on a slope requiring leveling blocks, and some feel tight on privacy. WiFi reception is notably poor and unreliable across the site, working best only near the bar area, while mobile phone signal can also be weak. A bus stop at the entrance provides easy access to Paignton, Torquay, and nearby beaches, and there are lovely walks to Stoke Gabriel. Evening entertainment includes live music, bingo, and special events like a Halloween trail, though some guests find schedules inaccurate or events poorly organized. The access road is narrow with passing places, which can be stressful for larger vehicles. Despite occasional road noise from a nearby main road, the atmosphere is generally quiet outside peak times, but the site can feel very busy in July. Overall, this campsite offers excellent value for money, with top-notch facilities, a clean environment, and a helpful team that keeps guests returning year after year.
