Tyn-yr-Onnen Farm is a working farm campsite that has earned consistent praise for its exceptional standards and warm hospitality. Perched at the foot of Mynydd Mawr and Moel Eilio, it offers jaw-dropping mountain vistas that create a serene and picturesque escape. The site is meticulously maintained, with guests praising the spotlessly clean facilities including the toilets, showers, and utility areas. Showers are noted for having plenty of hot water without the need for coins or tokens, making for a hassle-free experience. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, often giving a personal tour upon arrival and offering great advice on local walks and attractions. Families love the dedicated playground, sandpit, and farm animals like donkeys, llamas, and sheep that children can feed and interact with. The on-site shop stocks camping essentials alongside tasty local produce, including lamb burgers, fresh eggs, honey, and ice cream. A handy utility room provides washing machines, dryers, and fridge freezers for guest convenience. Campfires are permitted until 10:30 PM, and fire pits are available to hire, enhancing the authentic camping experience. Quiet hours are enforced after 10:30 PM, ensuring restful nights. Pitches are generally spacious and well-leveled, with some offering electric hookups and stunning views. However, the access road is very narrow with limited passing spots, which can be daunting for larger vehicles. WiFi is available but can be slow or patchy across the site, which many guests appreciate as a chance to disconnect. Mobile phone reception is generally low due to the rural hill location. Some pitches are a fair walk from the facilities, and the ground can be rocky or sloped, requiring sturdy tent pegs. The electrical hookups may not support high-demand appliances like induction stoves simultaneously with lights. Despite minor inconveniences, the overwhelming sentiment is that the site offers excellent value for money, with guests expressing a strong desire to return. This is a wonderfully maintained, family-friendly destination that blends natural beauty with genuine hospitality.
