Nestled on the outskirts of Penzance, this small, quiet campsite offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by trees and a babbling stream, yet it remains within a comfortable 40-minute walk of the town center, shops, pubs, and attractions like St. Michael's Mount. The setting is ideal for exploring western Cornwall, with easy access to the coast and ferry services. The grounds are well-maintained, generally flat, and secure with gated keypad entry, though some pitches are narrow and close together, occasionally requiring leveling chocks. Water taps are conveniently located at individual pitches. The staff, particularly the warden Tony who lives on site, are consistently praised for their friendliness, helpfulness, and local knowledge, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the facilities are small and somewhat dated, with limited toilet blocks—typically one shower and one or two toilets per gender—that can lead to queues during busy periods. Showers require an additional payment via a card or contactless machine, which some find inconvenient. The site enforces a strict no-arrival-after-6 PM policy and has numerous rules and signs, which can feel authoritarian. Children's activities are restricted, making the campsite better suited for adults. Wi-Fi is generally good and free, though it can be intermittent during storms or on certain pitches; TV reception is poor. Mobile signal is weak in the area. No shop, play equipment, or tourist information is available on site, but a nearby pub offers excellent food, and a bakery and fish and chip shop are within easy reach. The value is generally good, though extra charges apply for dogs and awnings, and some guests find the pricing high given the facilities. The atmosphere is safe and secure for solo travelers, but the numerous security cameras and strict rules may make some guests feel uncomfortable. Overall, this is a simple, quiet site best for those seeking a peaceful base for exploring Cornwall without needing extensive amenities.
