The site features level, well-drained hardstanding and grass pitches, allowing guests the freedom to choose their own spot in a spacious open field. Facilities are consistently praised for their cleanliness and modern amenities, including hot showers, composting toilets (well-maintained and odor-free), a dishwashing area with hot water, potable water taps, and a chemical disposal point. The dedicated site warden and owners are friendly, attentive, and proactive, making daily rounds to check on guests and offering local advice. The site is dog-friendly and allows campfires and barbecues, with picnic benches and firepits available free of charge or for purchase. Evening food vans visit on weekends, and amenities include a charging station for phones and a freezer for ice packs. The location is excellent, with a direct footpath leading to Stockbridge village, offering shops, pubs, restaurants, and lovely riverside walks. The site is also within easy reach of Winchester, Stonehenge, and other attractions. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches, quiet atmosphere at night, and excellent stargazing due to low light pollution. However, the site is adjacent to the A30, resulting in some road noise during the day that quiets at night. Clay pigeon shooting from a neighboring site is occasionally heard but does not generally disturb guests. The camping field can become busy during peak times, and the entrance gate keypad can be tricky in the dark. There are no electric hookups, and the ground may get muddy after heavy rain. Chemical waste disposal is awkward for shorter individuals. Overall, Stockbridge View Campsite is highly recommended for its location, cleanliness, friendly management, and excellent value for money, offering a simple camping experience with high standards and a warm welcome.
