Guests are greeted by stunning panoramic views of Blencathra and the surrounding countryside, creating a picturesque setting. The working farm atmosphere adds unique charm, with sheep, geese, and friendly sheepdogs roaming about, delighting both adults and children. A well-loved honesty shop on the farm sells local produce like bacon, eggs, milk, sausages, cakes, and even dog treats, adding a charming and convenient touch. The staff and family are consistently described as friendly, welcoming, and helpful, often going out of their way for guests. The location is ideal for hikers and cyclists, with direct access to walks up Blencathra and a flat, scenic railway path into Keswick. The nearby village of Threlkeld offers several welcoming pubs and a community cafe, just a short walk away. However, the toilet and shower block is the main and most consistent criticism, described as dated, basic, cold, and in serious need of modernization. While showers have excellent hot water pressure, cleanliness is frequently questioned, and some report the facilities as old and dirty. The walk to the facilities can be a distance from some pitches, and there are occasional mentions of aggressive geese near the block. Electric hookups have been reported as insufficient for running multiple high-power appliances simultaneously. Despite these drawbacks, the overall experience for self-contained campers is positive, as many rely on their own facilities and appreciate the site's cleanliness elsewhere.
