Nestled along the banks of the River Witham, this campsite is a peaceful riverside retreat that has become a firm favorite among returning guests. The site is praised for its tranquil setting, scenic walks, and opportunities for wildlife spotting. A particular highlight for aviation enthusiasts is the proximity to RAF Coningsby, where the roar of Typhoon jets and the occasional Lancaster Bomber overhead adds a unique thrill. The team, especially manager Phil, is consistently described as exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and helpful, creating a genuine, family-run atmosphere. The on-site bar and restaurant serve affordable, home-cooked meals—steak nights are a popular draw—and the bar hosts regular entertainment such as bingo, karaoke, and quizzes, fostering a lively community feel. Camping pods are a standout, offering excellent value for money; they are spacious, warm, and well-equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, and heater, though guests should bring their own bedding. Pitches are generally level and spacious, with new hardstanding options and easy access, though some grass pitches can become waterlogged in poor weather. The site is very child-friendly, with a playground and freedom for kids to play, and also welcomes dogs, with riverside walks right at the doorstep. Fishing and kayaking are popular activities on the river. The toilet and shower blocks receive mixed feedback; while often found to be clean, they can be unheated, leading to chilly showers in colder months, and some guests note a lack of toilet paper, soap, and maintenance issues like broken cubicle doors. The indoor swimming pool is a potential feature, but many guests find it unheated and cold, and it has sometimes been closed without prior notice. WiFi and mobile signal are very limited, available only in the clubhouse, which is a known location-related drawback. The site is under new ownership with ongoing renovations, including new tarmac roads and hardstanding pitches, which are well-received. Noise can occasionally be a problem, with some reports of late-night disturbances from long-term guests or revelry. Despite these drawbacks, the low prices, friendly atmosphere, and beautiful location lead many to return regularly, with guests noting continuous improvements.
