Set amid heathland and forest on the Veluwe, this campsite is an ideal base for walking and cycling holidays, with direct access to nature and close proximity to charming villages like Ermelo and Harderwijk. Guests consistently praise the beautiful, spacious pitches arranged on separate fields, though sand on pitches can be tracked into caravans and bedding. The location offers direct access to forest and heathland, and guests often see a flock of sheep on the heath, with the sheepfold a charming local attraction. The surroundings are scenic, but since a new management took over, service levels have declined and the focus seems to be on maximizing profits. The on-site restaurant suffers from slow service, and on Friday and Saturday evenings it is closed, severely limiting dining options; the snack bar is often considered poor quality. The small camping shop has been renovated but offers limited selection and reduced hours, accepting only card payments. Sanitary facilities are modern and well-maintained, though some years faced cleanliness issues due to infrequent cleaning with just two cloths. A constant humming noise from heat pumps and delivery trucks running engines disrupts the peace, and staff turnover is high, with employees becoming less friendly and attentive. On the positive side, the campsite features both indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, providing recreation even in winter. Pitches are spacious and offered in individual or larger fields, though some larger pitches may be shaded by trees, and the site has a car-free policy with parking requiring adjustment. New walking and mountain bike routes overlap, a problem worsened since the pandemic, and the site is not suitable for those with mobility issues as vehicles must stay in the car park. The campsite is particularly welcoming for dog owners, offering peaceful wooded spots for walks, and there is plenty of entertainment for children. Cyclists will find this an excellent base with easy access to extensive biking routes. Despite ongoing operational challenges and a diminished atmosphere, the natural beauty remains a major draw for relaxation and exploration.
