Parque Campismo Quinta do Rebentão
This campsite offers a beautifully wooded setting with ample natural shade and a delightfully quiet atmosphere, broken only by a rooster’s morning crow for rural charm. The adjacent swimming pool and restaurant are closed during autumn and off-season, so plan accordingly. The access road can be narrow, but the site easily accommodates large vehicles up to 9.27 meters long and 7.5 tons. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, providing fresh bread and pastries each morning. Sanitary facilities are clean, heated, and include warm showers. A strong gate ensures good security, and pets are welcome with safe nighttime walks for cats. The ground can be stony with ants, giving parts a tired feel, but the sound of crickets, frogs, and peacocks from a nearby animal park adds charm. Simple, affordable accommodations make it budget-friendly. A local baker drives onto the site around 9:30 AM, and staff assist with reservations at attractions like Chaves Termas & Spa. However, the nearby animal park is poorly maintained with just a few goats and birds, which may disappoint. Cleanliness in ablution blocks has significant issues; mold grows between tiles in showers and toilets, and dishwashing is only possible with cold water. Outdated facilities require urgent attention to meet basic hygiene standards. Despite these drawbacks, the peaceful retreat offers easy access from the N2 road and a warm welcome from staff. The pool is a highlight, though it and the restaurant may close off-peak. Overall, this site charms with its quietness, helpful staff, and local bakery visits, but suffers from deteriorating sanitary conditions that campers prioritizing modern amenities should note.
