This campsite sits in a beautiful natural valley alongside a babbling brook, offering a wonderfully peaceful and scenic setting ideal for hiking, cycling, and sightseeing. The location is a definite highlight, with easy access to Hirschhorn for groceries and scenic routes toward Heidelberg. Spacious pitches with ample privacy and room to spread out are consistently praised by guests. However, the site suffers from serious neglect and poor maintenance, with many describing it as a shadow of its former glory. Cleanliness is a recurring major problem, especially in the sanitary facilities, which are often reported as dirty and only cleaned infrequently, sometimes just before weekends. The swimming pool, while initially a promised asset, is frequently either closed, dirty, or unheated, leading to deep disappointment. The on-site restaurant is noted as often closed or offering only basic snacks, and service can be unfriendly. The staff and owners are frequently described as grumpy, unhelpful, and unwelcoming, even in emergencies. Mobile reception is very poor due to the valley location, and Wi-Fi is unreliable or available only near reception. Numerous derelict caravans and neglected permanent pitches give the entire site an unloved, rundown appearance. Electric hookups are insufficient for modern needs, and some outlets are broken. The entrance is tight for large caravans, and pathways are sometimes unlit or slippery, with waste discarded in the stream. Despite the natural beauty, many guests have cut their stays short and moved to neighboring campsites for a better experience. The price is considered fair, but the overall lack of upkeep and unfriendly atmosphere makes it widely not recommended for return visits, especially with children.
