Perched on a hillside with breathtaking views over Loch Linnhe and the Sound of Kerrera, this campsite is a peaceful retreat just a short drive or scenic walk from Oban’s town centre, ferry port, and supermarkets. Guests consistently praise the stunning sunsets, open spaces, and quiet atmosphere, making it ideal for relaxation. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, helpful, and welcoming, ensuring smooth check-ins even for late arrivals. The site offers grass pitches for tents and motorhomes, a camping pod, a well-stocked shop for essentials, a children’s playground, and a communal area with cooking facilities. A memorable highlight is the chance to see Highland cows grazing on the grounds. Kitted out for families and dog owners, the site features a dedicated woodland dog walk and a pleasant path to a jetty with lovely sea views. However, the grass pitches are often sloping, uneven, and become waterlogged and muddy after rain, causing vehicles to get stuck and leaving deep ruts. Pitches are not marked or levelled, creating a free-for-all scramble for the best spots, especially near limited electric hook-up points, some of which have been reported as faulty or in short supply. The water supply comes from a natural spring and is non-potable, often appearing yellow or brown, forcing guests to boil water or bring bottled water even for rinsing dishes. Toilet and shower blocks receive mixed feedback: while some find them clean and warm, many report outdated, cramped facilities with low water pressure, cold or fluctuating temperatures, and a lack of hot water in sink areas. There is often a shortage of facilities relative to the number of campers, leading to queues, and some blocks are a long, steep walk from tent pitches. Access is via a narrow single-track road that can be challenging for larger motorhomes, especially when meeting oncoming traffic. WiFi and mobile signal are very poor or non-existent across most of the site, with connectivity only near reception. Ongoing construction of static lodges generates daytime noise and shifts focus away from the touring section. Despite these drawbacks, valued for its stunning scenery and friendly staff, the high price relative to the standard of amenities disappoints many visitors.
