Tucked away in the Derbyshire countryside, this campsite serves as a superb launchpad for exploring the Peak District, with easy access to Buxton, Bakewell, and the Tissington Trail. The grounds are beautifully maintained with lush grass, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that many guests appreciate. The staff repeatedly shine for their friendliness and helpfulness, offering smooth check-ins and valuable local advice. Children are especially well catered for with a fantastic playground that is kept in excellent condition, and there is plenty of open space for kids to cycle and explore safely. The on-site shop is small but well-stocked with essentials at reasonable prices, and a pub and restaurant are within walking distance. The toilet and shower facilities are modern, spacious, and often exceptionally clean, though maintenance can lapse during busy periods, leading to dirty blocks and a sewage smell. Showers are frustratingly equipped with push-button timers that run for only a few seconds, requiring constant re-pressing. Pitches vary considerably: hardstanding and some grass spots are level and spacious, but many electric grass tent pitches slope significantly, causing discomfort and making it difficult to pitch pegs. Noise from the adjacent A-road is a common complaint, with traffic and motorcycles audible late into the night, particularly on the non-electric grass pitches near the road. WiFi and mobile signal can be weak or unreliable, depending on the pitch. Despite these drawbacks, the peaceful setting, scenic grounds, and excellent location attract many repeat visitors who appreciate the relaxed vibe and outdoor adventures. The site handles large groups well and offers a recycling area and grey water dump. For families with young children, the safe environment and playground are strong draws. While the facilities have the potential to be excellent, the need for more regular cleaning and restocking is a recurring theme. Overall, this campsite excels in its location and staff hospitality but is somewhat let down by slope issues, persistent road noise, and inconsistent facility upkeep.
