This campsite offers a convenient location with easy bus access to Edinburgh, ideal for exploring the city without a car. Guests praise the peaceful atmosphere and recently upgraded facilities, which have proven popular among repeat visitors. Prices are fair considering the prime proximity to Edinburgh, though during festivals the site becomes very busy, straining amenities. The pitches are small and often uneven, with some described as extremely sloped, causing issues like refrigerator malfunction. Cleanliness has seen mixed reviews; while recent comments note improvements, earlier reports mention dirty, moldy shower rooms. The staff receives varied feedback, with friendly reception but unhelpful maintenance and refusal to change pitches despite empty spaces. Water access is limited to a single tap for the entire site, causing inconvenience. The shop has a limited selection and cannot exchange Campingaz bottles. A serious complaint arose when maintenance damaged a folding caravan with a lawnmower, resulting in €2500 damages. Security concerns exist due to minimal supervision and no barriers, with reports of theft. The overall experience is highly dependent on timing: good for city visits but plagued by cramped pitches, poor service, and security issues.
