Over the past few years, this small family-run campsite has evolved from a promising but slightly neglected spot into a well-loved retreat praised for its peaceful countryside setting and exceptionally clean facilities. Guests consistently rave about the modern, powerful showers that offer ample space with handy hooks, as well as the spotless toilet blocks that set a high standard for campground hygiene. The owners are repeatedly described as friendly, helpful, and accommodating; one even went out of his way to ensure disabled facilities were suitable, while another impresses with home-cooked Friday pizzas that have become a highlight of a stay. The quiet, open field provides level pitches with plenty of room, making it ideal for families who want children to have space to play. A short walk leads to a lovely vineyard and an ice cream farm, adding to the rural charm and offering easy day trips. For walkers, the proximity to Offa’s Dyke footpath is a definite plus, and the availability of fire pits to borrow adds a cozy touch. However, the site is very basic — there is no shop or pub nearby, and guests should plan ahead for supplies. Some practical issues have cropped up: in earlier years a broken bridge near a pond created a safety hazard with litter, while more recent visits have noted uneven or boggy pitches, overgrown electric hookups, and occasionally overflowing bins. Noise from the neighboring dairy farm — cockerels, tractors, and muck spreading — can bring unwelcome smells and midges. A few guests also mentioned loud music from the owner’s property or shooting pellets landing close. Communication has sometimes faltered, with one guest not receiving a welcome or shower code, and another feeling pressured to vacate early for incoming campers. The push-button showers, though hot and clean, are a minor inconvenience for some. Wasps and flies, especially near the pond, have been noted as a nuisance. Despite these occasional drawbacks, the overall experience is one of a functional, cheap, and peaceful place where clean amenities and a warm welcome shine. It remains a good choice for those seeking a simple, nature-immersed stopover or a quiet base to explore the surrounding countryside.
