Nestled in northeastern Hungary, Kugundua offers a tranquil escape between Budapest, Hortobágy National Park, and the Mátra and Bükk mountains. This small campsite, with a maximum of 60 pitches, sits at the end of a dead-end road, ensuring minimal traffic and peaceful surroundings. The 25 touring pitches are on grass, each about 100 square meters, with 6-amp electricity and partial shade from trees. Modern sanitary facilities include separate showers, washbasins, and toilets for men and women. Dishwashing and chemical toilet disposal are available outside the building. A washer and dryer are accessible for a fee, while freezer and fridge use is limited. The campsite features a cozy indoor and outdoor lounge, a reception area, and a large covered terrace for washing up. A small swimming pool provides refreshment on warm days. Children can enjoy swings, a climbing frame, a sandbox, and a dedicated playground. In the communal room, guests can play board games or read from the library. Evenings often gather around the fire pit, fostering a friendly social atmosphere. The name Kugundua, from the Swahili language of Uganda, means 'to discover,' reflecting the owners' passion for exploration. Wi-Fi is available at the reception and restaurant. Dogs are welcome. Nearby, a grocery store is just 350 meters away, while a supermarket, snack bar, and restaurant are within 10 kilometers. The surrounding landscape offers vast steppes and wooded mountains, ideal for hiking and wildlife watching, including cranes, bee-eaters, and rollers. The nearest village is Gelej, and public transport is 700 meters away. The campsite is close to a highway for easy access. Payment is in cash only. Note that Kugundua is temporarily closed for the 2023 season and has not yet received ANWB inspection or an official certification. There are no full hookups or camper service station for waste disposal, and no sanitary facilities for guests with reduced mobility.
