This campsite is beautifully tucked into a forest and nature reserve on the edge of Amsterdam, right beside a lake, blending a serene natural escape with easy city access. The setting is widely praised for its beauty, offering walking paths, cycling routes, and opportunities to watch birds and rabbits. Getting to the city center typically takes about an hour by bus, train, or a scenic bike ride through the woods. The shop is a highlight for many, especially for its fresh bread, rolls, and pastries available each morning. Staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and efficient, readily assisting with issues and contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. Cleanliness stands out, with sanitary facilities like showers and toilets praised as exceptionally clean and well-maintained, and the free showers offer good water pressure and duration. The site provides a range of amenities, including a laundry, bike rental, a playground, and a well-stocked shop, making it family-friendly. The pitches are mostly level and spacious, with some offering lovely lakeside or waterside views, though a few visitors found their particular pitch small, muddy, or uneven, especially after rain. Noise from Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport is a frequent comment, with aircraft noise impacting the quiet environment, though many find it manageable and note it quiets down at night. Traffic noise from nearby roads and noise from other campers have also been reported. Some guests have faced frustration with the barrier system for late arrivals, as returning late at night in a vehicle can be problematic, and the office closing early can be inconvenient. Booking and pitch allocation issues, including double-booking and unclear demarcation, have been noted as well. The WiFi is generally moderate, though some guests wish it were better. Despite minor drawbacks, the campsite is highly recommended for its beautiful surroundings, excellent transport links, friendly staff, and cleanliness.
