The atmosphere is wonderfully quiet, with no road noise and very little light pollution, making it a perfect spot for stargazing and listening to the rustle of wildlife. Guests are greeted by warm and welcoming owners who go above and beyond, from offering local tips to helping with forgotten items. The facilities are thoughtfully simple, including clean compost toilets and a warm outdoor shower tucked away in the woods. There are sinks for washing up, though some guests found them a bit limited, and the shower, while lovely, lacks full privacy. Fire pits come with free firewood, and there are wheelbarrows to help haul gear to the pitch. The site offers direct access to the River Wye, ideal for a refreshing swim or a paddle, and woodland paths invite leisurely walks. Children will find plenty to love with swings, a hammock, a den, and a small forest area to explore safely. The campsite is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, with solar-lit paths adding a gentle glow after dark. Thoughtful extras like a communal stove, tea bags, and an information board make the stay even easier. While there is no WiFi or electric hookups, that’s all part of the back-to-nature charm. The nearby town of Builth Wells is just a ten-minute drive away for supplies.
