Perched high on the Beara Peninsula in County Kerry, Creeveen Lodge Campsite offers breathtaking panoramic views over lakes, mountains, and valleys stretching toward the sea. The location feels both remote and serene, yet remains conveniently close to the Beara Way hiking trails and a short drive from Kenmare, making it a superb base for exploring the Ring of Beara and Ring of Kerry. Hosts Michael and Mary are consistently praised for their warm, welcoming demeanor and genuine willingness to go out of their way for campers. Pitches are spacious and level, spread across different terraced levels that provide a good sense of privacy, even when the site is busy. The amenities, while simple and slightly dated, are kept spotlessly clean and include free hot showers (controlled by tokens purchased from the owners), a well-stocked communal kitchen with hobs, microwaves, kettles, fridges, and freezers, plus a washing-up area and laundry. Electric hookups are available and Wi‑Fi works reliably throughout the property. Dogs are welcomed with open arms, and there is a small playground where children can play safely in the open space. The surroundings are wonderfully quiet and dark at night, creating a true escape from city life. Fire pits and barbecues are permitted, adding to the relaxed, outdoor atmosphere. Midges and mosquitoes can be present due to the wooded, mountainous setting, so insect repellent is recommended, and ticks have been noted in taller grass near facilities. The narrow, single-track access road requires careful driving, and the nearest shop is about a 20-minute drive away, so it is wise to come well-stocked. Some guests noted that the shower blocks have only one shower each and that a few fixtures show their age, but these are minor points in an otherwise excellent experience. Overwhelmingly, visitors praise the stunning location, tranquility, and warm hospitality, with many returning year after year and calling this one of the best campsites in Ireland.
