Nestled beside a picturesque bend of the Saale River and surrounded by vineyards, this campsite offers a peaceful retreat ideal for cyclists following the Saale Cycle Path. The site is perfectly positioned for exploring Naumburg and the castles of the Saale Valley, with a cycle path leading straight to the historic center in about 15 minutes. Guests can also rent boats at the adjacent canoe station to explore the Unstrut and Saale rivers by water. The spacious, unparcelled layout allows campers to choose their own spot, adding to the relaxed and well-managed atmosphere. Plenty of shade is available, and pitch sizes are generously large, making it a comfortable base for outdoor enthusiasts. However, the site is plagued by chronic infrastructure issues, including far too few electrical hookups for the number of pitches, a problem that has persisted for years. Sanitary blocks are limited, often poorly maintained, and sometimes out of order, with cleaning routines poorly timed during busy morning hours. Roads and paths are dusty, potholed, and unlit after dark, making nighttime movement difficult, while waste disposal becomes overwhelming during peak periods. The on-site restaurant serves decent classic German dishes, but the dining room and overall gastronomy experience need improvement, and service there can be less friendly. Bread roll orders must be placed before 18:00, and the supply system is unreliable. Reception has restricted hours, and early departures are not possible before 10:00 checkout. The swimming lake is closed for bathing, so guests take a dip in the river instead. Despite these frustrations, the campsite is noted for being dog-friendly and welcomes pets with enthusiasm. The staff, especially at reception, are exceptionally welcoming and helpful. However, repeat visitors feel management has lost control of the sprawling operation, and the value for money is now considered poor as facilities do not match pricing. The site shows signs of neglect with cluttered old buildings and overflowing garbage, creating a messy and unkempt atmosphere. Travelers seeking a modern or well-maintained camping experience may be disappointed.
