Zaton Holiday Resort is a sprawling, forested campsite hugging the Dalmatian coast, offering a unique blend of woodland shade and immediate seaside access. The resort is vast, with well-marked paths and a layout that encourages exploration, though a bicycle is highly recommended for getting around the extensive grounds. Its standout features are the exceptionally clean and modern sanitary facilities, which are continuously maintained and often described as luxurious. The beach is a major draw, with crystal-clear, shallow waters perfect for families and a promenade for relaxed strolls. Sun loungers and umbrellas are included in the price, adding to the sense of value. The on-site amenities are comprehensive, including a well-stocked supermarket, several restaurants serving decent food, and a large pool area with heated sections. The staff, especially outside peak season, are consistently praised for their friendliness and efficiency. The resort is a fantastic base for exploring the historic towns of Zadar and Nin, as well as the scenic Velebit mountains. However, the campsite can become incredibly lively and noisy during the height of summer, which may not suit those seeking total tranquility. A significant and recurring issue is the large number of dogs, with some owners failing to clean up after them or keep them under control, leading to conflicts on pitches. Safety is also a concern, as electric scooters and bicycles frequently ignore traffic rules, making walks along the roads and promenade hazardous. Check-in can sometimes be chaotic, especially for guests using an ACSI card, with reports of pricing discrepancies and long waits at reception. While the core facilities are excellent, some extras like water park attractions and certain pool loungers incur additional fees. The terrain can be uneven in parts, making setup tricky for larger motorhomes. Despite these drawbacks, the resort's beautiful setting, clean infrastructure, and beach access keep many guests returning year after year.
