This campsite is a mixed bag that has evolved over the years, but still offers a prime location along the Danube River with views of Sigmaringen Castle and easy access to Hohenzollern Castle. In 2021, the tent meadow was tiny and placed right in front of the toilet building, where the door slammed all night; stinging nettles were widespread, and one guest found their shower broken. The same year, the restaurant was tasty and the outdoor swimming pool next door was a major plus, while the staff reportedly disliked bicycle tourists. By 2022, the site became an excellent base for walking or cycling to Hohenzollern Castle, with daytime city noise fading to quiet nights. The children's zone was situated at the far end to avoid disturbing others, and the sanitary facilities were outstanding, though very unfriendly staff emerged as a serious issue, with one tent traveler being overcharged and denied access to washrooms before being forced to leave. In 2023, the site was full during a medieval market, leading to overcrowded facilities; sanitary blocks required a key and were cleaned only once daily, with too few showers and toilets that often ran out of toilet paper. The dishwashing area was cramped, the chemical disposal point was dirty and chaotic, and litter from rental houses was scattered around. Throughout all seasons, the site offers a tasty restaurant, a nearby Kaufland supermarket, and direct access to the Danube cycle path, plus canoeing and climbing. It is a practical base for active travelers, but its shortcomings in cleanliness, staff attitude, and maintenance keep it from being a top choice.
