This campsite sits near the charming town of Gemünden, offering a beautiful island-like setting that attracts a friendly, social crowd. The adjacent municipal swimming pool is a major highlight, being large, clean, and free of charge for guests, providing excellent recreation just steps away. Surrounding cycling routes are ideal for active exploration, and a nearby bakery and supermarket compensate for the lack of an on-site shop. The sanitary blocks were once praised for being very well maintained and cleaned several times daily, including in 2022. However, recent reports describe the facilities as significantly outdated and broken, with malfunctioning showers and push buttons that deliver more water to the floor than the showerhead. Overcrowding has become a serious issue, especially on weekends and holidays, when the site fills with party guests and noise after 10 pm is not controlled. Quiet hours are famously ignored, with campers hammering in pegs late into the night, leading to an incessant din that prevents rest. Pitches are interspersed with permanent residents and can be untidy, sometimes with tiles, reducing both privacy and comfort. Access roads are occasionally very narrow, presenting a challenge for larger vehicles. Maintenance has declined sharply, with the site described as barely adequate and in need of modernization. The manager’s lack of enthusiasm has been noted as a key factor in the site’s deterioration. Overall, while the location and pool remain strong draws, the chaotic atmosphere, neglected facilities, and lack of quietness make it a disappointing choice for those seeking a peaceful getaway.
