Camping Riverside, under its new Dutch owners Pim and Katherina since May 2024, has quickly become a standout destination in the stunning Valais region. Katherina’s four decades of experience in gastronomy ensure the on-site restaurant serves exceptional cuisine, drawing high praise from guests. Pim, a lifelong camper, manages the grounds with competence and friendliness, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The pitches are arranged in a relaxed, non-rigid layout that encourages an informal and comfortable stay. Sanitary facilities are spotless and feature reliably warm water in the showers, though guests at the far end may face a longer walk to the facilities. The campground’s overall cleanliness is frequently highlighted as superb. Reception is described as warm, straightforward, and knowledgeable, making check-in a pleasant experience. Many visitors express a strong desire to return when exploring the Valais region again. However, during peak season, the experience can be mixed; much of the terrain is an open, unshaded meadow, which can be uncomfortable in hot weather. The adjacent municipal swimming pool was closed for all of 2024, disappointing those expecting aquatic amenities. Some guests find the nightly rate high given the basic, trekker-oriented atmosphere dominated by motorhomes. Sanitary facilities are concentrated in just one area, forcing some guests to walk a considerable distance. Travelers with dogs report a relaxed and quiet experience, thanks in part to strict local fireworks regulations. The entire operation reflects a high level of dedication and care from the owners.
