Camping Regio offers an excellent base for exploring Salamanca, with a bus stop right at the entrance and a pleasant cycle path covering the 4 km into the city. The campsite sits on the outskirts, providing easy access to the historic city center via cheap, regular bus rides lasting about 20 minutes. Active visitors can also cycle along safe, flat riverside lanes into town within 20 to 25 minutes. The spacious pitches easily accommodate large motorhomes and caravans, with many being level and offering good room for awnings. Some pitches are shaded by trees, though a lack of shade is a common drawback for tent campers in hot weather. The ground can be hard for pegs or uneven, and grass cover may be sparse, leading to mud after rain. The sanitary facilities are generally clean and plentiful, with large, well-maintained blocks and excellent hot water. Some facilities are a bit dated and would benefit from modernisation, particularly the ladies' block and shower cubicles lacking shelving or hooks. The swimming pool is a standout feature, shared with the adjacent hotel, and is praised for being large, well-maintained, and heated during the season. The on-site bar and restaurant serve enjoyable food and drinks at reasonable prices, with a discount available for campers. A small shop stocks fresh bread and other essentials, while a children's play area adds to the family-friendly appeal. The site is pet-friendly, making it suitable for families. The reception staff are consistently described as very friendly, welcoming, and informative, providing useful local information. WiFi receives mixed reviews, being excellent for some but unreliable for streaming. Noise from a nearby motorway or late-night disturbances has occasionally been reported, though many find the overall atmosphere peaceful. The grounds are kept tidy and clean, and water and waste disposal points are conveniently located. Overall, the campsite provides great value for money, especially with an ACSI card, and is highly recommended as a convenient stopover for travelers heading to or from Portugal.
