Reception is warm and friendly, with staff offering helpful advice and even guided walks. The gentleman at check-in speaks some Dutch, and the café bar is staffed by a Dutch-speaking lady as well. Amenities are generally very good, though the toilet blocks are oddly configured with only two toilets and two showers per gender in one building, albeit in unusually large rooms, and a second block is more conventionally laid out. The large swimming pool is a highlight, though it can be a bit chilly and somewhat scarce on sun loungers; locals also use it. Bread can be ordered and a mobile shop visits twice weekly. With a tennis court, great family facilities, and proximity to a small town with terraces and shops, this campsite is especially recommended for walkers and anyone wanting to get away from it all. Nestled in a non-touristy part of Portugal, the campground features a charming bar where visitors can sit with locals on Saturday mornings, creating a wonderfully authentic experience. The natural surroundings are stunning, with numerous worthwhile hiking trails right from the site. Guests appreciate the generous pitch sizes and superb privacy, especially during quieter periods like May when there is ample space for motorhomes. While not a spectacle for children, the large grass field and a very small playground can keep a young child entertained. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming, with the Portuguese owner speaking excellent Dutch, which adds to the ease of communication. The facilities, while perhaps older in style, are spotlessly clean and well maintained, with daily cleaning of the shower blocks and reliably hot water. A large saltwater swimming pool is a highlight, enjoyable even in October. On-site amenities include a bar and reception area where guests can purchase milk, bread, and wine, plus weekly barbecues that offer plenty to eat. The surrounding area is beautiful, with charming villages and towns to explore, as well as walking and driving routes. The campsite has earned a well-deserved "Top 10" campsite award in Portugal, a testament to its quality and the warm hospitality of its hosts. Many visitors find themselves extending their stay, drawn by the serene environment and the feeling of being welcomed into a special community. It is an ideal spot for those who appreciate peace, nature, and genuine hospitality.
