Campingplatz Oggau is a well-regarded family campsite known for its exceptionally friendly and attentive staff, who create a positive first impression and go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. The overall atmosphere is generally quiet and peaceful, providing a great retreat for relaxation, although some visitors note significant aircraft noise from nearby landings that can disrupt the tranquility. Cleanliness throughout the property is consistently excellent, with well-maintained pitches that are large, clearly numbered, and often separated by hedges for added privacy. A major highlight is the large, modern outdoor swimming pool complex right next to the campsite, which offers free entry for campers and features a dedicated section for the youngest visitors. The on-site restaurant is consistently praised for its excellent meals, making it a dining highlight for guests. The terrain consists of dark, dusty sand, and the site can be very busy even in early summer due to its popularity. For cyclists, a bike path runs directly past the entrance along the main cycling route around Lake Neusiedl, and the nearby historic town of Rust, about 5 km away, offers charming old-town streets with storks nesting on rooftops, excellent restaurants, and wine taverns. A lake access point with a marina and another swimming area is located approximately 7 km away, though accessing the lake on foot from the site is challenging for those with health limitations. The site offers excellent value for money, especially considering the included Neusiedlersee Card, which provides free entry to the pool and various regional discounts. However, the WiFi service is noted as non-functional, which is a notable drawback for those needing reliable online connectivity. Sanitary facilities receive mixed reviews: while many find them spotless with friendly cleaning staff, automatic systems for water, lights, and showers cause frustration as water stops quickly and lights turn off too soon, requiring frequent reactivation with a camping card. Strict rules during quiet hours from 12:00 to 14:00 prevent entry or exit, which can disrupt schedules, and early morning noise from tractors or lawn mowing may disturb sleep. Dogs are welcome for a fee, but there are no dedicated dog waste bags, disposal bins, or dog showers available. Waste disposal is central rather than scattered, which some consider insufficient. Overall, the combination of calm surroundings, excellent service, good dining, and a superb pool makes the site appealing, though the noise issues and strict amenity controls may affect the relaxation experience for some.
