The pitches are generous in size, grassy, and shaded by a remarkable canopy of ancient palm and eucalyptus trees, many over 70 years old, offering a choice between sun or deep shade. A pebble beach lies just 50 meters across the road, and while the currents can be strong and the shore is littered with stones rather than sand, the crystal-clear waters are inviting for a dip. The location is perfect for excursions to Etna, the Alcantara Gorges, and Taormina, with a free shuttle to the Giarre-Riposto train station making day trips easy. The atmosphere is notably relaxed and quiet, especially during less crowded months like May, making it a calm base for exploration. However, the sanitary facilities are a major point of criticism: they are outdated, poorly maintained, and often too few, with broken washbasins, missing toilet seats, and a token-operated hot water system that requires separate purchase. Guests have reported nighttime noise from nearby discos, and a massive ant problem has been severe in some years, with guests warned of an invasion that can fill vehicles overnight. The surrounding area has been described as dirty and litter-strewn, and the beach itself may have rubbish. Wi-Fi is only reliably available near the restaurant, there is no on-site shop for daily essentials, and pitch reservations are not always enforced, leading to space-hogging. Despite these drawbacks, the restaurant earns consistent praise for its excellent and affordable cuisine, the staff are often described as friendly and attentive, and the pitches are well-equipped with electricity hookups and water connections nearby. The views of Mount Etna from many pitches are stunning, and the property maintains an impeccable standard of cleanliness across its public areas. The campsite is divided into zones with grassy, gravel, and tree-dotted areas, all kept tidy. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, ideal for traditional campers who value simplicity and camaraderie over luxury. The beach features fine pebbles rather than sand, helping guests stay cleaner while swimming. Dogs are welcome during low season. The price is considered high by some given the condition of the facilities, but the fantastic location and generous pitch sizes are appreciated. The restaurant sells bread and basic provisions, though there is no dedicated shop. The campsite truly shines in its culinary offerings and its strategic location for exploring eastern Sicily, but guests must be prepared for dated sanitary blocks and potential pest issues.
