This campsite in a beautiful natural setting offers a peaceful retreat, making it a great base for walking, cycling, and exploring the Drenthe region. The large, well-kept grassy pitches are a highlight, providing ample space for guests. The owners are known for their exceptional friendliness and hospitality, creating a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. Children are well catered for with a dedicated animal corner, a trampoline, and plenty of space to play. Despite occasional lively nearby events, the campsite maintains a tranquil and relaxing ambiance. Guests can enjoy delicious oven-baked pizzas on Saturdays, as well as excellent coffee and homemade apple tart at the reception and bar. The site is well-maintained and many visitors return for repeat stays. However, the overall experience is marred by outdated and neglected sanitary facilities, which are often described as being from the 1980s and housed in an old barn. Cleanliness is a significant issue, with reports of dirty and poorly maintained infrastructure in both the sanitary blocks and the canteen. Guest reviews for 2025 indicate that the management is not always present or helpful, and value for money is considered poor due to opaque electricity billing and high costs for hot water via a prepaid card system. While the setting remains attractive, the facilities and service have declined notably in recent years. Travelers who prioritize modern, clean amenities may find this campground disappointing.
