This campsite offers a wonderfully straightforward and beautiful experience for travelers seeking natural charm, yet it suffers from serious and worsening issues that mar the stay. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing guests to truly unwind in a serene setting. The location directly on the Rhine River provides pleasant river views and a scenic backdrop perfect for walks and cycling. However, longtime visitors report that formerly shady pitches near the water have been converted to seasonal spots, leaving tent campers exposed in full sun. The sanitary facilities are very old, poorly lit, and often smell of sewage; showers cost extra and run cold for a long time, while some fixtures remain broken and replaced by containers. The on-site restaurant has received mixed feedback, with some enjoying friendly staff and tasty food but others witnessing a server carrying a lit cigarette while bringing meals. Noise from trains passing both day and night is a persistent disturbance, undermining the otherwise attractive setting beneath a castle. The grounds are marred by scattered rubbish and bulky waste, giving an overall neglected appearance. Many of the best pitches are permanently occupied by long-term campers, and the entire site shows signs of decline under new ownership. Despite the reasonable price including electricity, recent visits suggest the place is no longer recommended even for a week's stay. Some guests appreciate that sanitary facilities are cleaned multiple times daily with staff always available, but others describe them as disgusting and unhygienic. The site's simplicity appeals to those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere, yet inconsistent upkeep leaves many feeling unwelcome. Spacious pitches provide good privacy and contribute to a peaceful atmosphere, though the Wi-Fi is unreliable and the restaurant may be closed. The campsite offers good value for a one-night stopover, with reasonable prices making it acceptable for a brief visit. Travelers seeking better-maintained alternatives along the Rhine would be wise to look elsewhere.
