Nestled among pine trees and just steps from the sea, this campsite in Castiglione della Pescaia offers a truly stunning natural setting with direct beach access and a private stretch of sand. The sound of cicadas and the forest’s rustic charm create a romantic atmosphere, though the site has become increasingly commercialized with glamping units replacing traditional pitches. Shaded pitches tucked among the trees provide privacy but are often too small for larger motorhomes over 7–8 meters, leading to tight access and difficult maneuvering. The on-site restaurant earns consistent praise for dishes like calamari and grilled vegetables, while the beach bar offers affordable refreshments; a small market and bazaar cover daily needs with decent quality but high prices. Sanitary facilities are a weak point, with some blocks poorly maintained and dirty, and a separate wing combining toilet, shower, and sink in one cabin causing queues during peak season. A freshwater station and scattered waste points are convenient, but showers have reportedly run cold for extended periods. Staff friendliness has improved over the years, with many guests noting helpful and dedicated team members, though earlier seasons reported unwelcoming service. The campsite is peaceful and quiet, with unobtrusive entertainment ideal for relaxation, and the low-traffic layout allows children to roam freely and make friends. A small playground provides entertainment for kids, though many families rely on the ample natural space for play. Wild boar families wandering through at dusk add a unique wildlife experience. The sandy beach is a short walk away, though the nearest section requires renting umbrellas; a free beach area exists further along but is unofficially claimed by long-stay guests. Access by bike is excellent to Castiglione della Pescaia, the Rocchette tidal pool, and Grosseto’s train station for day trips to Rome. Large motorhomes can use the flat Patolino area, but the dune section remains tricky. Cleanliness of facilities is inconsistent, with some renovated blocks acceptable but others in need of updates. The reception staff are helpful and happy to assist with language barriers, making check-in smooth for arriving guests. Evening security is lacking, with entrance gates left open and no supervision, raising safety concerns. Mosquitoes can be a significant nuisance, sometimes cutting stays short. Despite issues with pitch size, value for money, and facility maintenance, the campsite’s idyllic woodland and seaside location continue to attract returning visitors seeking natural beauty over modern comforts.
