This campsite is a peaceful forest retreat with a stunning lake view, especially magical in morning sunlight. The serene environment offers tranquility, with guests often hearing owls at night. During low season, visitors can choose their own spot among the trees with a lake vista. The reception staff earns high praise for being friendly, courteous, and helpful, even across language barriers. Value for money is excellent, with affordable rates that appeal to many. However, the site feels a bit dated and could benefit from investment. The shower block has been described as grim, occasionally dirty with an unpleasant odor, and lights that automatically switch off after a few minutes. Pitches lack privacy dividers and are not very level, making them challenging for tents. They also lack clear markings, causing confusion during busy periods. The location is ideal for hiking, with great trails nearby and a lake offering a pleasant backdrop. A great beach is within reach, and good transport links to Santander reduce the need for a car. Out of season, no bread service or food is available, and there is no nearby supermarket. Mosquitoes can be a nuisance. The unique circular pitch arrangement may initially seem unusual but works effectively, with spacious, well-situated triangular pitches. Sanitary facilities are recent, spotless, and appreciated by guests. The bar and café are welcome additions. Overall, this is a quiet, affordable retreat best enjoyed when a few more guests are present.
