Nestled along the banks of the Gave de Pau river, this campsite offers a wonderfully scenic and peaceful escape, with the soothing sound of flowing water creating a restful atmosphere. The spacious, well-defined pitches are a highlight, often separated by hedges for added privacy, and many boast stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The campsite maintains a clean and tidy environment, with particularly well-kept sanitary facilities that are cleaned regularly. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, who go out of their way to ensure a welcoming experience. A small on-site bar and snack bar serve up tasty food, including excellent fries, and create a relaxed social hub. The swimming pool is a popular feature, described as large and clean, perfect for a refreshing dip after a day of adventures. The campsite organizes various family-friendly activities, including outdoor cinema nights and communal dinners, fostering a vibrant community spirit. While the local village has limited amenities, with few restaurants or shops open past midday, a superb bakery is within walking distance for fresh morning bread. The surrounding Pyrenees mountains provide endless opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and white-water rafting trips that can be arranged directly from the campsite. However, campers should note that WiFi is only available near the bar or reception, not at individual pitches. Some guests have reported issues with cold showers, low water pressure at the washing-up sinks, and occasional cleanliness lapses in the toilet blocks during busy periods. The pitches are a mix of sunny and shaded spots, and the site is notably quiet at night, though a pitch directly by the rapids can be noisy for some. The campsite accepts cash only, which caught a few visitors off guard, and a deposit is sometimes required for certain accommodations. Despite these minor drawbacks, the combination of its beautiful riverside location, generous pitches, and welcoming atmosphere makes it a highly recommended base for exploring Lourdes and the Pyrenees.
