This charming campsite in the French mountains is run by the warm and welcoming Dutch couple Wim and Matzenka, whose hospitality turns every arrival into a reunion with old friends. The spacious, level pitches are generously shaded by trees and offer lovely views of the snow-capped Canigó peak, providing plenty of room for guests. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with the entire site and its sanitary facilities kept in pristine condition, including a well-regarded disabled shower room. The on-site restaurant serves notably good food, especially the excellent salad, and fresh bread can be ordered daily; however, some items like chicken wings are considered overpriced. A small swimming pool offers a refreshing dip on hot days, and a playground with swings, a trampoline, and a sandpit keeps children happily entertained. The atmosphere is wonderfully quiet, laid-back, and family-friendly, making it a safe and relaxing escape outside peak season. The location is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with spectacular hiking trails starting directly from the grounds and easy access to the Tuesday market in Prades and the challenging ascent of Pic Canigou. Mountain bikers and road cyclists also find the area perfect for a good workout, with plenty of routes to explore. The couple’s consistent friendliness and fairness over their 15 years of management create a joyful atmosphere for all ages, with many guests expressing a strong desire to return. The owners are accommodating even for late arrivals, and visitors are treated with respect and as valued guests. Note that tap water is not potable, so guests should bring drinking water or purchase it on site. Electric hookups use an older French two-pin system, requiring an adapter that the owners are happy to lend if available. Pitches can be slightly sloped in places, but the overall layout remains well-organized and clearly divided. The friendly staff, though sometimes limited in English, go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. This campsite is a wonderful base for day trips, blending excellent service with serene surroundings and ample recreation.
