Nestled along the banks of the Dordogne River, this campsite offers guests direct access for wild swimming, canoeing, and scenic riverside walks, with many pitches providing stunning water views and a good degree of privacy thanks to hedges and trees. The spacious, level pitches, often shaded, make for a comfortable stay, especially those right beside the water that are praised for their generous size. Staff consistently receive high marks for being friendly, helpful, and easygoing, with good English skills easing communication, though reception can occasionally be closed or unhelpful at time of arrival. The on-site swimming pool is a popular highlight, described as large and pleasant with sun loungers, and the bar and snack bar offer decent food and drinks, though availability may be limited outside peak season. A small shop and restaurant operate but their stock and hours can be inconsistent. Free Wi-Fi is available at the bar area. The site maintains a relaxed, quiet atmosphere for much of the time, ideal for relaxation, but some noise from late-night machinery, cars, or children can occur, and a Traveller community in an adjacent field has raised concerns about safety and security, including a hole cut in the fence and scooters speeding through pitches. A public footpath runs directly in front of several pitches with little separation, adding to security worries. The sanitary facilities receive mixed reviews: while some find them clean with hot water, many describe them as dated, poorly maintained, and poorly lit, with cold showers, no hand soap or toilet roll, missing hooks, and only one toilet block partially open, leading to queues during busy periods. Dishwashing water is often lukewarm, and grey water drains can be insufficient. The site looks tired and run-down to some, noting old static caravans and dog mess around communal areas. The river has been affected by toxic cyanobacteria pollution at times, preventing bathing. Laundry facilities are well-regarded, and recycling is provided. Cyclists appreciate easy access to local greenways. Despite occasional facility shortages and seasonal closures, the superb riverside location, spacious pitches, and friendly staff make this a highly recommended spot for those prioritizing setting and tranquility.
