Camping Le Moulin De Caudon
Nestled on the banks of the Dordogne River, this family-run campsite offers a serene retreat surrounded by rolling countryside. The views across the valley are beautiful, with hot air balloons and birds of prey frequently seen overhead. Guests consistently praise the warm and helpful owners, who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay, even fetching fresh baguettes and croissants for late arrivals. The site features a lovely heated swimming pool, a well-equipped gym, and a games room for extra activities. Direct access to a safe, clean river beach is perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and canoeing. Pitches are spacious, flat, and well-shaded, though some lack privacy and the ground can become dusty or muddy after rain. The on-site restaurant serves excellent pizzas, mussels, and theme-night dinners that create a lovely evening atmosphere. Bakery items like fresh bread and croissants are available to order for breakfast. Sanitary facilities are generally spotless and spacious, though the shower cubicles are open and can be chilly in cooler weather, and toilet paper is provided on a shared roll. WiFi is available only near the reception and bar area. The campsite is notably quiet at night, offering restful sleep, and provides a calm, low-key vibe suitable for all ages, couples, and pet owners. A scenic walk leads to the historic hilltop town of Domme, and easy access to canoe hire and cycling routes makes it an ideal base for exploring the Dordogne region. Although some noise from a nearby farmer's bird alarm and dust from passing cars can occur, the overall atmosphere remains peaceful. Many guests return year after year for the friendly, tidy environment and thoughtful management.
