Camping La Vallée de Deauville
This large, well-maintained campsite sits just 5 km from Deauville, offering easy access to the city's charming streets and beautiful beach. However, it feels more like a bungalow park than a traditional camping ground, with most of the site dominated by mobile homes and only a handful of pitches for caravans and motorhomes tucked in the middle. The grounds are impressively kept, but the proximity to a main road means traffic noise can be noticeable from certain spots, so choosing your pitch wisely is essential. On weekends, the site becomes crowded with seasonal residents, adding to the already bustling atmosphere. Cycling to Deauville is a challenge due to poor signage and inadequate bike paths, which may deter active travelers. The pitches themselves are spacious and nicely separated by hedges, offering decent privacy, though there is no shade from trees during hot summer months. Water access is inconvenient, as there are no nearby water points, and the sanitary facilities are consistently reported as dirty and poorly maintained. Showers require tokens that limit you to just ten minutes per day, with water temperature fixed and uncomfortably hot; guests must also bring their own toilet paper. The reception staff are polite but often fail to explain how the token system works, adding to the frustration, and the reception itself closes for two hours in the middle of the day even during peak season. Noise is a major drawback throughout the day and evening: cars come and go late into the night, children's entertainment runs in French from 9 PM to 11:30 PM and is described as very loud, and many permanent guests leave their dogs unattended, causing constant barking. On the upside, there is a large aquapark with slides that children find fantastic, and the on-site restaurant serves delicious meals. The pool itself, while fun for kids, is considered too small for the number of guests. Overall, the campsite offers great family-friendly pool activities and good dining, but suffers from poor facilities for tent and camper users, inadequate maintenance, a persistently noisy atmosphere, and a sense that it is overpriced for what it offers, falling well short of its star rating.
