This campsite on the Île d'Oléron offers a warm welcome and a peaceful atmosphere that guests appreciate year after year. The pitches are beautifully maintained and generously sized, providing plenty of space for a comfortable stay. Sanitary facilities are heated and exceptionally clean, ensuring comfort even in cooler weather. The location is ideal, within cycling distance of Le Château and conveniently close to the sea. Unlike many campgrounds on the island that close in October, this site remains open without issue. Guests consistently praise the tranquil and restful environment, making it a strongly recommended choice for a quiet getaway. The town of Le Château offers charming cultural and social options just a short bike ride away. Staff are exceptionally helpful and attentive, with one employee going out of their way to assist with an unexpected equipment issue. The surrounding area is known for excellent local products, including the finest pineau on the island. Many returning visitors appreciate the spacious pitches and modern chalets as a base for short cycling trips to delightful dining options. However, the on-site bistro has lost favor due to staff smoking indoors, which detracts from the experience. In recent years, cleanliness issues have emerged, with litter and dirt detracting from the overall experience. Accessible facilities are inconveniently placed, with the nearest accessible toilet located 150 meters away. Water points have been deliberately deactivated, with taps removed, suggesting inconsistent maintenance. Some guests suspect that thorough cleaning only occurs after less lucrative customers have left. The combination of grime, disabled access challenges, and neglected water infrastructure creates a disappointing atmosphere, especially for those who value hygiene and accessibility.
