Nestled on a peninsula jutting into the stunning Lac du Bourget, this campsite offers a prime lakeside escape with direct access to pebble beaches and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and water sports. The surrounding landscape is spectacular, with excellent cycling paths leading to Aix-les-Bains and Chambéry, as well as countless small roads ideal for motorbike tours. The on-site restaurant is a standout, serving excellent regional dishes and homemade rillettes that receive high praise from visitors. The snack bar, however, falls short with inedible pizza and lasagne that reviewers strongly advise against. The reception and maintenance staff are consistently friendly, warm, and efficient, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere across all roles. The campsite features generous pitches, some with lake views and shade under trees, though others lack shade and can feel tightly packed, especially with trees placed awkwardly in the center of some spots. Electricity and water hookups are shared among groups of four pitches, so campers should come prepared with spike tent pegs for the hard ground. The sanitary facilities are a recurring weak point—outdated, unisex, with some toilets closed, and no hand-washing sinks; they are cleaned only once daily and often left dirty by users. A significant rule for boat owners requires that any boat with an outboard motor must have a reserved harbor berth, a policy not clearly stated on listings, leading to logistical challenges for those with small dinghies. During peak season, loud music from a nearby venue can disturb sleep, and dogs are not always kept on leads, causing unsettling encounters. Outside peak season, the campground transforms into a much quieter, well-maintained haven described as truly restful. There is no shop on-site, but guests can order fresh bread each morning and find a supermarket within cycling distance. A potential billing issue with ACSI cards has been noted, where one visitor was charged the normal rate without refund despite promises. Despite the sanitary shortcomings and occasional crowding, the stunning lake setting, friendly personnel, and excellent dining make many guests eager to return.
