This campsite along the Neckar River provides a pleasant base for exploring historic Heidelberg, easily reached by bicycle or a short trip. Guests consistently praise the friendly and welcoming staff, as well as the very spacious pitches that offer ample room for caravans and vehicles, with both shady and sunny spots. The setting among trees by the river adds natural charm, and the relaxed atmosphere is a highlight. Traveling with dogs is well accommodated, with good walking opportunities just outside the grounds. The sanitary facilities are described as outdated and in need of renovation, but they are kept clean and functional. However, hot water requires tokens or coins, and showers have weak pressure with short timers; there are only two showers per gender. On-site amenities are limited — the restaurant is permanently closed, and there is no bread delivery service, bar, or usable WiFi. A nearby Aldi supermarket is convenient for supplies, and fresh bread rolls are available at reception. The biggest downside is traffic noise from surrounding roads and a railway line, making sleep difficult for light sleepers; the riverbank is also inaccessible for swimming. Payment is cash-only, as cards are not accepted. The site is not particularly geared toward children, lacking playgrounds or activities, making it more suitable for couples and adult travelers. Many guests find the rates high, especially late in the season without ACSI discounts, and critical of the cost given the minimal amenities. Despite the basic and aged facilities, many consider it a good stopover for a night or two to explore Heidelberg, and some would happily extend their stay.
