Eldorado campsite sits in a stunning location right beside a lake, with forests and the lively Plasmolen square within easy walking distance. The setting is exceptionally peaceful, making it a fine choice for a quiet retreat. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, who go out of their way to assist with issues and offer nicer pitches without fuss. The surrounding area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, offering excellent mountain biking, hiking, and cycling routes, as well as water sports like sailing, canoeing, and paddleboarding from the campsite itself. The on-site shop stocks a wide range of products and sells delicious fresh bread rolls. Several restaurants are conveniently located just outside the gates. The sanitary facilities receive mixed feedback; some find them very new, clean, and pleasant, while others report issues with cleanliness, minimal amenities, and poorly designed showers. The swimming pool is disappointingly shallow, with only about 15 centimeters of water. Lake access is a notable downside, as the front-row spots are reserved for seasonal campers, meaning other guests must ask permission to cross a pitch to reach the water. Pitches tend to be quite small, and a large portion of the site is occupied by permanent residents, giving parts of the campground a somewhat cluttered feel. The best waterside pitches are unavailable for holiday guests, a detail not mentioned in advertising. The restaurant and snack bar disappoint, with complaints about cold food, overpriced meals, early closing times, and a smoking terrace that deters families. WiFi is a significant frustration, often described as very poor or unusable. Electricity and water points are considered scarce by some, and electric hookups can be awkward to access due to overgrown bushes. The campsite is dog-friendly, though walkers note the lack of a back gate for convenient dog walks. Additional paid extras and the overall cost are seen as high for the value offered, though using an ACSI card in the off-season provides better value. The playground is popular with children, making it a family-friendly destination. Despite the drawbacks, the location, friendly team, and overall calm vibe mean many visitors express a desire to return.
