This campsite enjoys a dream location right on the shores of Lake Maggiore, within walking distance of Locarno's city center, making it an ideal base for both water activities and urban exploration. The setting is picturesque, with a lovely small beach directly on the camping grounds and a larger public beach adjacent, all set on the delta of the Maggia River. Excellent walking and hiking opportunities start right from the site, and guests receive a Ticino Card for free public transport, perfect for day trips. The sanitary facilities are described as excellent, and the on-site restaurant and shop add great convenience for daily needs. Long-time visitors often feel a strong sense of coming home, finding the atmosphere welcoming and familiar. However, peace and quiet are hard to come by due to constant noise from a nearby shipyard that operates early in the morning, even on weekends. The noise disturbance is significant enough to deter anyone seeking a tranquil stay. The reservation policy has also drawn criticism, as a deposit is required upfront and is not fully refundable, which some visitors consider unreasonable. Recent feedback highlights inflexible policies, such as motorcycles not being permitted on the grounds, forcing riders to unload gear onto a cart and walk to the tent area, even in heavy rain. Requests for exceptions have been denied, suggesting unfair treatment of two-wheeled travelers. Adding to the disappointment, the restaurant service has been reported as slow and inattentive even when few guests are present. The facility appears focused on maximizing profit at guests' expense, resulting in poor value for money. Overall, the campsite is best suited for those who prioritize lakeside nature and urban access over a serene environment or flexible policies.
