This charming, family-run campsite is a delightful base for exploring the region, especially the magnificent city of Carcassonne and the nearby bookish village of Montolieu. Guests consistently praise the exceptionally warm, welcoming, and multilingual owners, who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay, even staying late for late arrivals. The spacious, level pitches are well-defined with hedges offering good privacy and many with shade, making for easy maneuvering for RVs. The campsite maintains a traditional, convivial ambiance that encourages social interactions, perfect for relaxing or disconnecting from daily life. A bar and snack bar serve tasty food, including local specialties and great burgers, and fresh bread and croissants can be ordered for morning delivery. The site also features a petanque court and a children's play area, and it is dog-friendly, making it suitable for families. A public swimming pool with slides is located right next door, a far more delightful option than the on-site pool, which is only open in July and August. The surrounding area offers excellent restaurants and wine tasting, such as at Domaine de Carmen, highly recommended by the owners. Cleanliness is frequently commended, with guests noting the sanitary facilities are exceptionally clean overall, though some mention they are a bit dated. However, the number of shared toilets and showers can be limited, and the shower water pressure is often weak, with some guests reporting only tepid water. The WiFi connection can be unreliable, sometimes failing in the afternoon, and mobile phone reception is often non-existent. Walking to the village is considered unsafe, especially at night, due to the lack of a secure pedestrian path, and road noise may be an issue for light sleepers on some pitches. The waste disposal area is not well screened from view, and the site feels somewhat isolated to some.
