Camping De Hondsrug is a well-maintained site that consistently impresses with its spacious pitches, making it easy to accommodate touring caravans. The staff are known for their genuine care, often helping guests find the most suitable spot, especially families with young children. Cleanliness is a standout feature, with sanitary facilities cleaned multiple times daily and regularly inspected. Children are exceptionally well catered for, with large sand play areas and abundant playground equipment, though the site could benefit from better facilities for older teenagers. Dog owners are warmly welcomed, and the adjacent forest offers direct access for walks and nature exploration. The pitches provide a good balance of shade and sunlight, contributing to a comfortable stay. Excellent cycling routes are accessible directly from the campsite, making it a great base for outdoor exploration. The on-site snack bar has limited opening hours and inconsistent food quality, with orders sometimes incomplete and service from young staff needing better supervision. The in-house restaurant has received criticism for poor food quality in the past. The site can be noisy during peak season due to constant tractor movements, and by late September many services shut down. The existing entertainment area, or 'pretplein', holds potential for evening hospitality, including occasional live music and an expanded terrace that could draw guests. Entertainment for younger children aged 4 to 10 has improved notably in recent years, reflecting management's responsiveness to guest feedback. Overall, the combination of space, cleanliness, family-friendly amenities, and forest access makes it a well-rounded choice for campers, though improvements to food offerings and teen spaces would enhance the experience.
