This campsite enjoys an enviable location on the banks of the Rhine in southern Cologne, offering direct access to a sandy beach and a scenic bike path that leads all the way to the city center. The surrounding area includes the Rodenkirchen district within walking distance, and public transport is about one kilometer away, though a transfer is needed to reach central Cologne. Guests consistently praise the exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff, who clearly explain site rules and suggest local excursions. The on-site biergarten serves its own beer, and the restaurant has received top ratings for its cuisine, though some find the dishes too elaborate and pricey for a camping setting. Fresh bread rolls are available each morning, a convenient touch for campers. The pitches vary from shaded spots under tall trees to more exposed areas, but some pitches can be up to 250 meters from the sanitary facilities and 50 meters from the drinking water tap. The sanitary buildings have received mixed reviews in earlier years, with reports of strong odors, dated fixtures, and infrequent cleaning, but more recent assessments highlight excellent cleanliness and a superb washing area. Electrical connections are not clearly organized, sometimes requiring extension cables, and individual pitches lack fresh water and wastewater hookups. A single sanitary building serves the entire site, which can be inconvenient for those at the edges. Security has been a significant concern, with low fencing along the Rhine making bicycle theft possible and vehicles able to enter freely at all times. Noise is another drawback, as traffic from the nearby motorway and aircraft are heard throughout the night. The high price has often been considered unjustified given the average standard of amenities in earlier years, leading some visitors to feel it offers poor value for money. However, recent impressions have improved, with a better balance of location and facilities noted. The site is a personal favorite for some guests, visited annually at least once, especially during carnival season. Overall, this campsite combines a stunning riverside setting and a welcoming team with infrastructure and cleanliness that have seen marked improvement in recent years, making it one of the best in the Cologne area.
