This campsite in the heart of the Romantic Road region serves as a brilliant base for excursions, especially to King Ludwig's castles, with free public transport passes available. Nestled in a scenic area with a lake on one side and the Allgäu Alps including Neuschwanstein Castle on the other, it offers stunning views and excellent cycling and hiking routes. The grounds are well-maintained and modern, with some guests extending their stay from two to four nights due to the charming setting. Sanitary facilities are consistently praised as exceptionally clean and well-equipped, comparable to a four-star facility, with washing machines and dryers available. The on-site restaurant serves good food and excellent pizza, with a beer garden providing a pleasant spot to relax and freshly baked cakes offered daily. Pitches are generally spacious and well-laid-out, though some near the main road can be very noisy, and certain areas may be sloped or muddy. The site becomes extremely crowded during peak season such as German school holidays, with reports of noise and overpricing. Staff receive mixed feedback; many are described as friendly and helpful, but some encounters involve unwelcoming or arrogant behavior, and long waits at reception can occur. The lake features small coves perfect for lingering and swimming, with a swimming pier adding to the recreational appeal. Children can easily make friends, but the advertised kids' animation program has been disappointing, and the only offerings are a small playground and an animation tent. Free public transport and various discounts are available to campers, adding excellent value, though electricity costs are considered high. Communication can be a challenge for non-German speakers, as signage and information are only in German. WiFi and mobile phone connections are unreliable or non-existent in some parts of the site. The on-site shop has a limited selection, but a large supermarket is just a few minutes away. According to one long-time visitor, this is the finest campsite in the Allgäu region, offering a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere. Overall, the site balances relaxation and activity with good food and fair prices, though inconsistencies in staff attitude, pitch comfort, and value for money persist across different years.
