The surrounding area feels remote and quiet, with woodland paths perfect for walks and bike rides. Good-sized, hardstanding pitches keep the site practical even in wet weather, and many offer pleasant views of farmland. A popular lakeside restaurant and a pizza cafe across the road provide convenient dining options, while a wine merchant van visits most evenings. The site is open year-round and serves as a handy stopover, just a few hours from the Channel ports. Staff are generally described as friendly and helpful, and a bread and takeaway ordering service is available. However, the condition of the sanitary facilities is a significant pain point across the years. While one block has seen some renovation, it is frequently reported as not being kept clean, with issues such as no toilet paper, no soap, spiderwebs, and uncleaned toilets. The older block remains very outdated and worn out. Guests also note problems with the laundry facilities, which are old and stained. The small on-site shop has limited supplies, so it is advisable to bring essentials. Some visitors have reported that a requested shaded pitch was not honoured even during hot weather. Biting insects can be troublesome at dusk, making insect repellent a must. Dogs are welcome, though some owners have allowed them to relieve themselves on the campsite. Despite its scenic appeal, the persistent cleanliness and maintenance issues in the facilities detract significantly from the overall experience.
