Nestled on the edge of Paestum, this campground sits just three kilometres from the archaeological site, offering a peaceful retreat shaded by a forest of pines and eucalyptus. The beautiful sandy beach is a mere 100 metres away, perfect for swimming in the clear Mediterranean waters. On-site amenities include a well-regarded pizzeria restaurant with very fair prices and a handy small supermarket for daily necessities. The staff are friendly and always ready to assist, enhancing the overall welcome. Free Wi-Fi is available and works reliably across nearly the entire property. However, the sanitary facilities are showing their age and, while still functional, are in need of modernization. The wide, clean sandy beach offers direct sea access and a pleasant setting with tall pine trees providing natural shade. The location is a definite highlight, as it is also close to an archaeological park and features a newly redesigned museum showcasing many recovered artifacts. The site has seen little positive change in 28 years, with some visitors describing it as dirty and noting that the management seems absent. A particular issue is that long-term seasonal campers appear to run the place, sometimes disregarding rules and environmental concerns. For example, one report mentions a permanent camper who let air conditioning run all day despite being away, and who allegedly drilled a hole in a waste container to let dirty water seep into the ground. Water shortages have also been reported. The sanitary facilities receive mixed reviews: one source calls them very orderly, while another claims they have not been renovated since 1993 and are outdated. The campsite warden has changed—the previous Italian warden spoke German and was very friendly, but the current warden is less accommodating. Overall, the beautiful beach and archaeological proximity are strong draws, but persistent management issues, cleanliness problems, and environmental disregard can spoil the experience.
