This Elbe River campsite is a study in contrasts, where stunning river and rock formation views clash with relentless freight train noise. Pitches are notoriously cramped, with awnings nearly touching the next camper, and roadside setbacks often surprise guests upon arrival. Modernized sanitary facilities receive praise for being spotlessly clean and well-maintained, though shower and electricity fees add to the cost. The blinking power box display in front of some pitches creates an additional nighttime disturbance. Train traffic thunders past every ten minutes day and night, with only a brief lull between midnight and 5 a.m., making earplugs essential. The location is a paradise for hikers and cyclists, sitting directly on the Elbe Cycle Path near the Königstein ferry and steamship landing. A boat rental service and nearby Elbe Freizeitland leisure park add to the outdoor appeal. Dog owners appreciate the beautiful hiking trails right from the campsite. Staff have received high marks for friendliness and knowledge in some years, but severe service failures have also been reported, including unilaterally downgraded premium bookings and unhelpful reception. Refund promises for downgraded pitches have gone unfulfilled, and follow-up emails have been ignored. Toilet blocks sometimes display misleading 'out of order' signs despite being functional. The constant noise, tight spaces, and inconsistent service create a mixed experience that suits undemanding outdoor enthusiasts who prioritize location over comfort.
