Nestled near the Achernsee, this campsite offers a scenic lakeside setting and a large tent meadow separate from seasonal campers, creating a relaxed atmosphere for tenting. The on-site restaurant receives consistent praise for its high-quality food and exceptionally warm, welcoming service, with guests often feeling genuinely welcomed by the restaurant and reception staff. Many visitors return year after year, some since 2011, drawn by the pleasant surroundings and friendly team. However, a serious and recurring issue overshadows these positives: the campsite warden or ranger is widely reported to be rude, confrontational, and even harassing, often barking at campers upon arrival for minor infractions like driving a car to unload gear. The warden has been accused of moving guests from their chosen pitch to a more crowded area without reason, even when the original spot remained empty, leading to threats of towing and arbitrary complaints about parking and unpacking speed. This creates a stark split in experience—one calm group of campers felt so unfairly treated that they vowed never to return while the current warden is employed. The site is located behind a noise barrier from the A5 highway, which is clearly audible, so it may not suit those seeking quietness, as some reviews rate quietness low. The facilities are decent and clean, with spacious and clean sanitary blocks, but a single toilet block is considered insufficient for the site's size. The campsite sits by a small lake with warm, clean water, perfect for swimming, and the surroundings are nice for walking and cycling. Many travelers use it as a convenient overnight stop on the way to Tuscany, though some warn the focus is purely on extracting money, with an à la carte payment system where you pay separately for your pitch, showers, and each person, plus a deposit for a keycard for showers and payment for water used. The site does not accept the ACSI Camping Card for discounts, despite some listings suggesting otherwise. The restaurant is a standout, particularly a Greek restaurant on-site that serves delicious food in a lively atmosphere.
