This campsite sits on the edge of the Drents-Friese Woud national park, just outside Appelscha, offering easy access to beautiful cycling and walking trails. The surrounding area is perfect for nature lovers who enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot or by bike. Many guests appreciate the cleanliness of the grounds and the high quality of the private sanitary facilities. The staff is consistently described as friendly and helpful, with particular praise for the hospitality of the current owners, Yvonne and Jan, who have revitalized the site. Several long-term visitors express their loyalty, returning year after year. The motorhome pitches are spacious, though they are not clearly marked; caravans up to 7 meters fit comfortably, but longer vehicles may feel cramped and enclosed. On-site there is a small restaurant with a limited menu, but guests can walk to the many restaurants in Appelscha within minutes. The washroom block is kept clean, though it can feel a bit small during peak occupancy. However, the experience varies by season: outside peak times the site is less suitable for children, as there is little dedicated activity or entertainment. Some guests report issues with noise and disruptive behavior from other campers during the evening, with management not intervening. A Saturday evening event with karaoke and live music can echo across the campground late into the night, making it a major drawback. Parking can be problematic, especially when spaces near grassy areas are occupied by football games. The reception experience has drawn mixed feedback, with long wait times and a perceived curt attitude from the owner on departure. Additionally, large German Shepherd dogs roam freely around the reception area, and one guest noted dog feces on the path. Wi-fi connectivity is unreliable; some pitches receive no signal despite the site advertising coverage, and both the complimentary and paid options are notably poor. Overall, the campsite excels in natural setting, cleanliness, and staff warmth, but may disappoint those seeking a lively atmosphere, consistent quiet, reliable internet, or efficient check-in.
